Nedbank Cup: Chippa Take Down Galaxy 2-0

Chippa United are on their way to the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup, following their 2-0 victory over TS Galaxy on Sunday, 14 April.

Playing away at Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga, Chippa were kept on their toes by Galaxy, who maintained a 67% possession of the ball for the entirety of the match. By the same token, Chippa were also able to keep their opponents at bay.

After 30 minutes, the deadlock was finally broken in the Chilli Boys’ favour when Bienvenu Eva Nga performed a fast header that flew past Rockets goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari.

For the rest of the match, each team maintained a strong pace, with Galaxy especially intent on preventing the visitors from doubling their lead.

Unfortunately for the home team, Chippa’s Roscoe Pietersen scored a penalty in the 91st minute to make the final score 2-0.

As a result of this victory, Chippa United will host Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup semi-finals. The date and venue for this much-anticipated match are still to be confirmed.
